Stellar Distribution of Stars |
| Subject: |
Mathematics,Science,English Language Arts,English Language Development |
| |
Grade: |
5 |
| |
Description: |
Study the life cycle of the star
Study the properties of stars/the Sun
Understand the intensity of the Sun and how that takes place
Do naked eye star counts of a region of the sky, then do the same through a telescope to examine stellar distribution away from the center of the galaxy, and another one towards the center. Obviously the greater numbers of stars would be towards the center. Use the knowledge of the Sun, a medium star to study the topic.
Use scientific data/statistics.
For Writing skills, have students come up with patterns they see in the sky and make up stories about the patterns. Students will research an ancient cultural myth about the Sun and write stories describing the myths.
EL learners : Point to each stage in the life cycle and have them name it.
Extension: Make or draw models of the process of nuclear fusion or other characteristics of the Sun.... |
