In second grade we do many genre studies. For example, we study realistic fiction, mysteries, folktales and fables, biographies and non-fiction texts. This past month, students have been reading through different non-fiction texts and studying text structure and organization. Students learned how to determine the organization of the text and the main ideas. They used photos, captions and text to identify and retell the main idea and details of the non-fiction text they were reading. Students then learned how to create Keynote presentations discussing all of the important facts they learned in their non-fiction text. They learned how to use the inspector to make changes to their project and how to make it look professional. They also learned what is too much information on each slide.... |
