Description: |
The teacher will demonstrate examples of mold making techniques in the design industry. Students will become familiar with how commercial design evolves from computer graphics to model making, and then to a finished product (autos, cell phones, household appliances, etc…) Industrial design examples will include casting techniques that utilize lost foam, lost wax, and direct pour casting. Discussion will include student thoughts of other objects that utilize mold making process and casting techniques.
The teacher will provide examples of sculpture construction that incorporates mold making techniques and casting as a viable form of the art making process. Student will design their own sculpture or industrial model based on a mold building technique of making a mold design in the negative that will result in a positive design after it is cast in plaster.
